Label CollEx, collection of excellence

Label CollExCollection of excellence

Within the framework of the "Programme Investissements d'avenir", initiated by the State in 2010, aiming to strengthen productivity, innovation and employment through investment in five priority sectors, including research, the CollEx is a label of excellence awarded to collections or documentary funds in order to increase their visibility among researchers.

The University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour and the University of Bordeaux Montaigne were awarded the CollEx (Collections of Excellence) label in 2016. The label rewards a documentary collection that is unique in France. The collections of the Basque domain include 5,000 volumes covering literature, linguistics, social and political history, and traditional and contemporary cultural aspects of the Basque country.

Thanks to the CollEx label, the collections of the Basque domain are promoted by the CollEx-Persée scientific interest group, particularly in the context of a mapping of collections of excellence.

Florence Delay library

In 2016, the collection was enriched by the historical Basque collection of the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, which was transferred to the Florence Delay library in Bayonne. This move facilitates access to Basque documentation for students and researchers from both institutions, most of whom are now based in Bayonne. The Florence Delay library's collection is also enriched by the proximity on the same campus of the collections of the UMR Iker, a research unit in Basque studies.

Lastly, the visibility of the award-winning collection is also based on the partnership with the Bayonne media library, the institution that runs the Bilketa digital portal.
