“Adapt coastal, forest and mountain ecosystems to make them more resilient” Mission
The “Adapt coastal, forest and mountain ecosystems to make them more resilient” mission is animated by Christine Bouisset and Matthias Vignon.
It is composed of several autonomous research projects and programmes that contribute to generating knowledge and know-how in the following areas:
- Climate impact on freshwater ecosystems
- Impact of environmental change on coastal zones
- Micro- and nano-plastics in marine and coastal environments
- Pollutants and contaminants, including emerging ones
- Environmental monitoring (sensors, bio-indicators, statistical modelling)
This interdisciplinary mission addresses three of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
- Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources
- Goal 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss
