Ebullition*(s), the illustrated research notebook in a comic-style journal, created by the University of Pau and the Adour Lands (UPPA), and published by the University Press of the UPPA.

Created within the scope of the June 2022 UPPA’s Science with and for the society (SAPS*) labelling, Ebullition(s) is an absolute popular science journal whose goals are to highlight research and popularise it in the aim of making researcher’s work accessible to everyone.

The Ebullition(s) journal saw the light of day from a simple observation: besides the academic world, when a research result is published, few people receive the information and get to understand it. And yet, research is often the answer to both current and future major societal issues. By combining art and sciences, with Ebullition(s) the UPPA offers a real research notebook. Researchers and artists work together to turn complex subjects into captivating stories, by uniting comics, illustrations, press cartoons, and scientific texts.

Each edition offers understandable contents, visually immersive and diverting, and broaching varied thematics as exact sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology…) but also human and social sciences (literature, economics, geography…)

Ebullition(s) come in two versions: one is digital and available online; the other is a paper, bi-annual and to pay for, to offer exclusive content and an enriched aesthetics.
