Gilles Pijaudier-Cabot re-elected senior member of the IUF

Deputy Director of the LFCR, Gilles Pijaudier-Cabot has once again been appointed senior member of the “Institut Universitaire de France” (IUF) on 1 October  2017.

The IUF refers to a group of university lecturers and researchers selected by an international jury for the exceptional quality of their research. Known as members, their teaching workload is reduced by two-thirds, and they receive an allowance and a specific allocation.

Already a senior member of the IUF from 2012 to 2017, Gilles Pijaudier-Cabot has been reappointed for a second five-year term. Former student of the “École normale supérieure of Cachan” (ENSC), the current executive director of E2S-UPPA also holds a PhD obtained at Northwestern University.

After joining the CNRS, he became in 1992 a lecturer at the ENSC where he developed models to evaluate structure integrity. In 1999, he entered the “École centrale” in Nantes where he created the team “rupture and durability of structures”.

He then joined the UPPA in 2007, taking up the reins of the Laboratory of Complex Fluids and their Reservoirs (LFCR) and of the ISIFoR Carnot Institute in 2011. He was awarded a bronze medal from the CNRS in 1991, and obtained an advanced grant from the ERC in 2008.
